For more than 30 years, families of seriously ill or injured children have found welcome and support at Ronald McDonald Houses. Each house offers temporary, affordable lodging while children undergo treatment. And for more than 20 years, Lennox Hearth Products (LHP) has helped Ronald McDonald House Charities give families a warm, caring place to stay.

LHP’s latest donations include a variety of fireplaces in three new homes. The Chicago suburb of Oak Lawn is the site of the newest Ronald McDonald house, which will be warmed by a Superior® VFST-2 vent-free gas fireplace and a Merit™ Series LMBV gas fireplace. The Denver-area’s second Ronald McDonald house, which can accommodate as many as 45 families, features a Montebello® gas fireplace. Builders of the Los Angeles house selected an Oasis wood-burning unit.

Each year, the editors at Country Living specify products to be featured in the magazine’s annual “House of the Year.” West Virginia’s Snowshoe Mountain ski resort is the site of the 2009 house, which features stoves and fireplaces from Lennox Hearth Products (LHP). The LHP products are a perfect fit for the house, which is in Sawmill Village, West Virginia’s only housing development committed entirely to ENERGY STAR® performance guidelines.

LHP provided a Dave Lennox Signature™ Collection Montebello® gas fireplace, a Traditions free-standing Pellet Stove, an EODG Elite™ Series Outdoor Gas Fireplace and a Signature Collection Estate® Wood-Burning Fireplace.

Good Housekeeping’s third annual “Green House” project included three fireplaces from Lennox Hearth Products (LHP), which brought aesthetic and environmental warmth to the renovated apartment in New York’s famous Harlem neighborhood. The brownstone is the first private residence in Manhattan to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. (LEED sets rigorous standards for sustainable building.)

LHP Merit™ Series (LMBV) fireplaces were installed in the living room, master bedroom and open kitchen area. The LMBV, which provides the look of an open-front, wood-burning fireplace, proved to be an ideal solution for each space. In addition to their visual appeal, the fireplaces will help heat the 4,600-square-foot home.

Lennox Hearth Products, exclusive supplier, showcases the Elite™ Series fireplace in Sarah Susanka's Not-So-Big Showhouse

Sarah Susanka, architect and best-selling author, used the 2005 International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Florida, as a setting to introduce another Not-So-Big Showhouse. Susanka feels that new homes are getting larger and larger, without any element of design or thought toward comfort and energy-efficiency. She believes that a home, regardless of its square footage, should be proportionate to the homeowner’s needs. The Showhouse is a smaller, well-designed home that saves on space and, in turn, offers safer, healthier, and more energy-sustainable products that help achieve the maximum level of comfort and living space for the homeowner. Susanka included only environmentally minded products in keeping with an overall focus on energy efficiency.

Susanka chose the Lennox Hearth Elite™ Series front-view, direct-vent gas fireplace as her point of focus in the Showhouse living room. The Merit™ Plus front-view, direct vent gas fireplace was chosen for the master bedroom. Both models have the distinguished Good Housekeeping Seal and are AFUE-rated for efficiency as a heating product.

This full-scale project incorporates the principles of energy efficiency and sustainability found in the Sustainable Buildings Industry Council’s Green Building Guidelines and the Department of Energy’s Building America program. The home, located in Lake Nona, Florida, will be open for touring until July 2005.
