Lennox Gives Its Gas Fireplace An ‘Extreme’ Makeover

ATLANTA (February 23, 2005) – In keeping with the trend toward improved realism in the ever-popular gas fireplace category, Lennox Hearth Products (LHP) introduces its first non-louvered, flush-hearth gas fireplace – the Montebello™ Direct-Vent Gas Fireplace.

“An evolution in gas fireplace design, the Montebello is perfect for the homeowner who desires the ambiance of a traditional, wood-burning fireplace, but prefers the convenience of gas,” says Lisa Burkhart, Senior Product Manager, Lennox Hearth Products.

The Montebello, part of the Dave Lennox Signature Collection, will be on view during the 2005 Hearth, Patio & Barbecue EXPO in Booth #113 of the Georgia World Congress Center.

A Departure in Style

Freed from the ever-present bottom and top louvers, which have appeared on gas fireplaces since their introduction in the early eighties, Lennox has achieved the tall, open look of an authentic masonry hearth while still offering consumers every advantage of a sealed combustion, energy-efficient gas fireplace.

Special features include a ceramic glass front for a crystal clear view of the fire and a blazing, 55,000 Btu flame. The final artistry of the fireplace, however, is the lowering of the burner and log set for a greater fire viewing area and more convincing floor level effect.

Optional accessories include fireplace screens, andiron kits and a selection of brick fireplace interiors that coordinate with a variety of home décors.

Installation Enhancements

Engineering advances like a new Secure Vent™ direct-vent pipe make installing the Montebello a breeze. Lennox is the first in the industry to offer a direct-vent pipe that requires no additional assembly. The pipe features laser-welded construction and compression fit, twist-lock design, so installers never need to apply tape or adhesive to secure the pipe. In addition, Lennox fireplace controls (previously located under the bottom louvers) are still attached to the fireplace so additional framing and finishing is unnecessary.

Available in medium and large sizes, the Montebello has optional remote control and can be configured with a standing pilot millivolt ignition system to allow the fireplace to be used even in a power failure.
